Abstract

Abstract: The rapid growth of digital payment systems has significantly transformed the financial landscape of India. Among various digital payment mechanisms, Unified Payments Interface (UPI) QR code payments have emerged as a revolutionary tool, enabling fast, secure, and cashless transactions. The widespread adoption of UPI-QR technology has altered consumer purchasing behavior, especially in urban areas where digital infrastructure and smartphone penetration are high. This study examines the impact of UPI-QR payments on urban consumer purchase behavior in India. The research investigates factors influencing adoption, frequency of usage, spending patterns, convenience, security perception, and consumer satisfaction. A survey of 300 urban consumers was conducted, and statistical analysis was used to evaluate the findings. The results indicate that convenience, speed, cashback incentives, and ease of use significantly influence consumer preference for UPI-QR payments. The study concludes that UPI-QR technology has accelerated India's transition toward a cashless economy while reshaping consumer purchasing decisions.
