Abstract

Abstract: Media plays a central role in shaping public understanding of gender identities and influencing social norms. With increasing visibility of gender-diverse communities, including transgender, non-binary, and gender-fluid individuals, media representation has become a critical area of sociological inquiry. This paper examines how gender diversity is portrayed in traditional and digital media and evaluates its impact on societal attitudes, stereotypes, and behavioral norms. Using secondary qualitative analysis, the study finds that while representation has improved in recent years, it remains inconsistent and often stereotyped. Positive and authentic representation contributes to greater social acceptance, while misrepresentation reinforces stigma and discrimination.
