PUBLIC HEALTH AND PREVENTIVE HEALTHCARE STRATEGIES
Abstract
Abstract: Public health is a fundamental component of sustainable social and economic development because it focuses on protecting and improving the health of populations rather than treating illness only after it occurs. Preventive healthcare strategies aim to reduce the incidence, severity, and consequences of diseases through health promotion, vaccination, screening, early diagnosis, environmental protection, healthy lifestyles, and effective health education. The growing burden of non-communicable diseases, infectious diseases, environmental hazards, antimicrobial resistance, and health inequalities has increased the importance of prevention-oriented healthcare systems. Primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention provide complementary approaches for reducing disease burden and improving quality of life. Technological developments such as digital health, telemedicine, artificial intelligence, electronic health records, and mobile health applications are creating new opportunities for prevention and population health management. However, barriers such as inadequate healthcare infrastructure, socioeconomic inequality, limited health literacy, cultural differences, and insufficient resources continue to affect the implementation of preventive programs. This research paper examines major public health and preventive healthcare strategies, their applications, benefits, challenges, and future directions. It argues that integrated, evidence-based, community-centered, and equitable prevention strategies are essential for building resilient healthcare systems.
