SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT AND DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION
Abstract
Abstract: Digital transformation has fundamentally changed the way organizations design, manage, and optimize their supply chains. Traditional supply chain management systems often depend on fragmented information, manual processes, delayed communication, and limited visibility across suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, and customers. The emergence of technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain, cloud computing, big data analytics, robotics, and digital twins has created new opportunities to build intelligent, agile, transparent, and resilient supply chains. This research paper examines the relationship between supply chain management and digital transformation, with particular emphasis on the role of emerging technologies in improving operational efficiency, demand forecasting, inventory management, logistics, supplier relationships, risk management, and customer satisfaction. The paper adopts a descriptive and analytical research approach based primarily on secondary information from academic literature, industry reports, and institutional sources. The study finds that digital transformation can significantly improve supply chain visibility, decision-making speed, flexibility, cost efficiency, and responsiveness. However, organizations also face challenges including high implementation costs, cybersecurity risks, data-quality problems, employee resistance, shortage of digital skills, and difficulties integrating legacy systems. The paper concludes that successful digital transformation requires not only technological investment but also organizational change, leadership commitment, employee development, data governance, and a clearly defined digital strategy.
