Abstract

Abstract: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming the education sector by changing the way teachers teach, students learn, and educational institutions manage academic activities. AI-based technologies such as intelligent tutoring systems, adaptive learning platforms, generative AI, automated assessment, learning analytics, chatbots, and personalized recommendation systems are increasingly being integrated into teaching and learning environments. This research paper examines the role, applications, benefits, challenges, and future prospects of Artificial Intelligence in teaching and learning. The study adopts a descriptive and analytical research design based on secondary literature and an illustrative survey framework of 200 respondents. The analysis indicates that AI can improve personalized learning, provide immediate feedback, support teachers in routine academic tasks, enhance student engagement, and facilitate data-driven educational decision-making. However, concerns related to academic integrity, data privacy, algorithmic bias, unequal access to technology, inaccurate AI-generated information, and the changing role of teachers remain significant. The study concludes that AI should complement rather than replace teachers. Effective integration requires digital literacy, ethical guidelines, teacher training, transparent AI systems, data protection, and equitable access to technology. A balanced human-AI approach can contribute to a more inclusive, flexible, personalized, and effective educational system.
