Abstract
Abstract: The study entitled “Promoting Gender Equality through the Role of Housewives: An Empirical Study of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Campaign in Diphu Town, Karbi Anglong District, Assam” which examines the awareness, perceptions, and role of housewives in promoting gender equality and along with how it support the objectives of the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign at the grassroots level. This study is designed to understand how far the campaign of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao has influenced the behaviour of housewives regarding the education, health, and overall development of the girl child within their families. The study adopts a mixed-method research approach. Primary data has been collected through interviews with selected housewives of Diphu town and the housewives have selected by using purposive sampling. For this study 50 respondents have been interviewed. While secondary data has drawn from books, journals, reports, and government publications related to the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign. From this stud the findings that revealed are the levels of awareness among housewives of Diphu town toward girls’ education, and also the challenges arising from existing social and cultural beliefs.
