TRANSFORMATION OF FINANCIAL SERVICES AND ITS IMPACT ON INCLUSIVE DEVELOPMENT IN INDIA DIGITAL
Abstract
Abstract: Digital transformation has profoundly reshaped the financial services sector in India, ushering in a new era of accessibility, efficiency, and transparency across the financial ecosystem. Over the past decade, the rapid integration of advanced digital technologies—such as mobile banking applications, fintech platforms, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and robust digital public infrastructure—has played a pivotal role in expanding the reach of financial services to previously underserved and unbanked populations. Initiatives like the proliferation of smartphones, increased internet penetration, and government-backed frameworks such as the JAM (Jan Dhan–Aadhaar–Mobile) trinity have collectively strengthened the foundation for inclusive finance. As a result, millions of individuals, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas, now have access to essential financial tools including savings accounts, digital payments, credit facilities, and insurance services. This paper critically examines the evolution and growth of digital financial services in India, focusing on their transformative impact on inclusive development by enhancing financial accessibility, encouraging entrepreneurship, improving the efficiency of welfare distribution through direct benefit transfers, and fostering greater economic participation among marginalized communities. The findings underscore that while digital transformation has emerged as a powerful catalyst for inclusive growth and socio-economic development in India, a holistic and sustained approach involving policy support, technological innovation, capacity building, and awareness programs is essential to address existing gaps and ensure equitable access to digital financial services for all sections of society.
