Abstract

Indian women writers expressed the thoughts and pain in the North Colonial period through their works for two major reasons. Firstly, both patriotism and imperialism can be seen predominantly. Because of this, under the patriarchal influence, women experienced the foreseen and it was important to highlight unfair cruelty on them by men. Women writers were required to oppose this male domination. We see that women define the limitations of community, class and creed. They tried to express their sufferings and dissatisfaction with the male-pride attitude. Although Indian women writers try to point out women as per their perspectives, as strong and focused in their eyes. However, they were able to succeed in their life only in the allocated place by men. Besides, Indian women tried to seal their rights in the male-in-term environment, as much as possible for them. They know well that this is a very difficult way because women had to break the male dominance and beliefs of years, which had largely influenced the society. Apart from this, critics argued that colonialism operates in very different ways for women and men. This is because women are addressed as specific discrimination and ‘dual-colonization’ as a specific discipline and women in the form of mere colonial toys.
